Abloc Camp Smögen 2019
This weekend training camp is perfect for those who want to sneak a solid weekend in before Sweden’s biggest cycling event, Vätternrundan. Or for anyone who just wants a solid weekend training block.
Smögen is the sophisticated and social cousin in Sweden’s West Coast island family. It’s a really special place – with bald cliffs, ‘unexpected’ roads, spectacular sunsets, summer vibes and crystal-clear waters. It’s conveniently located with other adorable coastal villages, like Hunnebostrand, Grebbestad and Kungshamn, just around the corner.
It also has a heap of short, steep hills, perfect for waking up the heart rate monitor. You’ll get well acquainted with the contrast between the agony you’re feeling and the beauty you’re seeing.
As usual there will be groups and speeds for everyone. You’ll spend your time off the bike swimming, in the sauna, enjoying the sights, or with your new buddies at the beautiful Smogens Hafvsbad eating dinner and being inspired by awards and experts.
Preliminary Schedule for Abloc Camp Smögen: 24 - 26 May 2019.
12.00: Check-in at Makrillviken Hostel. We are onsite for all of Friday, so earlier arrival is possible - just let us know.
14.00 Official welcome before we roll out from Makrillviken Hostel for the first ride. You can take a short theory lesson at Bike School before rolling out for the first time if you wish.
There will be 3 groups, with the distance (and speed) varying between 50 – 100km. A service vehicle follows each group to deal with any mechanical issues, punctures or to help you out if you get tired.
About 2 hours into the ride, we’ll meet up as a big group for a Swedish Fika (coffee and cake). You’ll be able to change groups here – so you can challenge yourself for the second block or drop back if you’re feeling it a bit more than expected.
19.00 Dinner and welcome at Smögens Hafvsbad.
20.00 Award ceremony and overview of the weekend ahead.
10.00 Roll out. 3 groups, with distances ranging from 70 to 200 km. Again, there’ll be a service vehicle behind each group, a Fika break and the chance to switch it up in the afternoon.
16.00 After-bike hangs/spare time.
19:00 Dinner and award ceremony at Smögens Hafvsbad
20.00 Expert Lecture and Inspiration.
09.00 Roll out. Distances vary depending on how the groups feel. Again, you’ll have service vehicles on hand, a group coffee break and the possibility to change groups.
