Abloc Camp Kalmar 2019

Start this cycling season with a bang!

2019 marks the 7th instalment of Abloc’s Camp Kalmar and boy, have we brought the goods this year.

Kalmar is a beautiful location. It’s set against the backdrop of the Öland bridge, the Baltic sea and some incredible historic buildings. Kalmar Castle is picture perfect and the parklands, cobblestoned streets, dedicated kissing seat and cat’s butt beach only add to its already pretty excellent character.

In fact, Kalmar has been voted Sweden’s best summer city more than once.

As always, we have distances and speeds for everyone, "Bike School" for those who want to master the basics and there’ll be some tough love in the form of racing sprints for those who like to hurt. We mix theory with practice and smiles for all groups and all levels.

We’ll have after-bike hangs, delicious dinners, inspirational lectures and fun award ceremonies after the rides as well.

The camp takes place between Friday lunch and Sunday lunch. We have a total of 100 places.

Preliminary Schedule for Kalmar 26-28 April 2019. Details to be confirmed.

12.00: Check-in at Best Western Kalmarsund Hotell. We are onsite for all of Friday, so earlier arrival is possible - just let us know.

14.00 Official welcome before we roll out from Larmtorget in central Kalmar. You can take a short theory lesson at Bike School before rolling out for the first time if you wish.

There are 3-4 groups and the distance travelled will vary between 40-100km – at different paces. We’ll hand out pointers on technique and sneak you some tactical advice when we’re out and about in the Spring air.

Each group has a dedicated service car that follows behind to help anyone who punctures or gets tired.

Halfway through the ride, you’ll be served a generous Swedish Fika - nice coffee, a snack and a beautiful view.

After the ride, you’ll have time to relax, join others for a drink, explore Kalmar or take a nap.

19.00 Dinner and Welcome.

20.00 Expert Lecture (to be announced)

21.00 Award Ceremony and an overview of the weekend ahead.

07.00-08.30 Breakfast

09.00 Roll out. 3-4 groups of varying speeds with distances ranging from about 80 to 180 km. We will provide you with coffee / lunch together with the other groups after about 2 hours. You can change groups here if you want to challenge yourself, or if you’re feeling it a bit more than you expected.

You’ll be provided with technical and tactical tips along the way. There’ll also be speed segments for those of you that want to go super hard or who want to compare yourself against your friends in the group.

Again, a Service vehicle will follow each group to help those who are tired or to deal with any punctures.

16.00 After-bike hangs or spare time

19:00 Buffet Dinner

20:00 Award Ceremony

20:30 Expert Lecture (to be announced)

07.00-08.30 Breakfast

09.00 Roll out. Distances between 50-120km, depending on how the group members feel. There will be some small "contests " for those who feel like they’ve got more left to give.
